7-inch industrial IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution

Modern displays manufacturers design them mainly according to the end customer type. On the one hand, it is possible to distinguish typical industrial applications and, on the other, consumer ones. Both groups of applications are designed to operate under different environmental conditions. They require different functionalities and, a as a result, displays features are usually adjusted to the market and often exclude each other.

Consumer VS. Industrial market

Products for the consumer market are not usually designed to operate for a long-term and in a failure-free way. Profound marketing activities and constant innovations encourage customers to exchange equipment as often as possible. This trend is particularly visible in smartphones, tablets, laptops and TVs. Significant features in consumer products are modern design, high resolution in relation to display size, high contrast, deep color saturation and wide viewing angles (IPS, VA matrixes).

On the other hand, devices manufactured for industrial applications have parameters that are generally different from the main features of consumer displays. The basic distinction is that industrial displays are designed to operate for a long term and in a failure-free way in harsh environmental conditions. There are important such parameters as: operating in a wide range of temperatures, moisture and water resistance and readability in strong sunlight. Manufacturers of industrial equipment guarantee compatibility with well-known and tested interfaces and long-term product availability of the component. Thanks to this, customers do not have to worry about costs of applications re-designing when the component is updated. High requirements regarding products reliability and the desire to maintain an attractive price are combined with compromises in most cases. In industrial displays there are applied older types of matrices (e.g. TN) which results in poorer image quality. Final appearance of the application is also not the most important factor. Industrial applications often seem obsolete which can be very confusing, if we look at the display parameters.

One display – combination of two worlds

However, there are several display models that are equipped with the essential parameters from the above mentioned two worlds – the industrial and consumer one. This narrow group includes two displays by Litemax DLF0702-TNN-A01 and DLP0703-TNN-A01 that were recently added to Unisystem offer. Both models outclass similar industrial products in terms of thickness (only 4.5 mm), matrix type and resolution. They are equipped with a 7-inch matrix manufactured using IPS technology. It is also worth noting that the resolution for the 7-inch is as high as 1280 x 800 which is extremely rare in this class of products and generally is a feature of modern displays produced typically for a consumer market.

On the other hand, both Litemax displays are characterized by reliability found only in products manufactured for the industrial market. Wide operating temperature range (from -20 to +70 C deg.), relatively low power consumption and long-life cycle significantly increase the applicability of these displays, making them more economical and efficient. Both models differ from each other by only one parameter – brightness. DLF0702-TNN-A01 display has 420 cd/m2, and DLP0703-TNN-A01 – 600 cd/m2 which makes it suitable for use in semi-outdoor applications.
